She is senior advisor for climate and health for the international nonprofit\, Health Care Without Harm\, where she helps Florida’s health systems be more sustainable and resilient. Before joining Health Care Without Harm\, Dr. Toms designed programs aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality. As a steering committee member with Florida Clinicians for Climate Action\, she educates other health professionals and the public about the health impacts of climate change and advocates for equitable solutions promoting clean energy and healthy communities. Dr. Toms is especially interested in the health impacts of extreme heat on vulnerable populations\, including expectant mothers. Dr. Toms leads a new program\, Green Cars for Kids\, which provides free transportation to non-emergency healthcare for low-income expectant mothers and kids using an all-electric fleet. \nDr. Toms earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University\, a medical degree from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich\, Germany\, and trained at Buskerud Central Hospital in Drammen\, Norway. Dr. Amiri has been a nurse/midwife for over 20 years and has worked as a midwife for over a decade in developing countries in collaboration with the World Health Organization. In addition to teaching and guiding nursing students at the college of nursing\, she leads the Environmental Justice Youth advocate Training (EJYAT) program. She works with youth in disadvantaged communities in Alabama and trains them as community leaders. Her goal is to train youth as community advocates and raise awareness about environmental justice and health disparities. Dr. Amiri is an advocate for environmental justice communities in Alabama. She has been working with Uniontown\, Alabama’s community organization\, since 2016. Dr. Amiri is a nurse researcher with an interest in indoor air\, environmental health\, and environmental justice. She measures indoor air quality by simulating residential and occupational settings in her lab and studies the common indoor air exposures\, their concentrations and sources\, and their impact on pregnancy outcomes\, child health\, and the well-being of the elderly.  She serves as the board member of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments.

DESCRIPTION:Join the ANHE Practice Work Group to hear about the ins and outs of starting a recycling program in the ED.\nRegister here today \nBrandie Tilch-Bryant\, FNP\, DNP\, is a recent DNP graduate of Washington State University College of Nursing.  She practices as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane\, Washington.\n\nFrustrated with a lack of recycling\, for her DNP capstone\, Brandie initiated recycling\, started a green team and provided education to her peers. She will describe the challenges and successes of her work in a busy\, acute care\, emergency setting.\n\nThis webinar has been approved for 1 hour of nursing CE credit. In order to receive the credit you must complete the evaluation following the program.
