EnviRN News – April 20, 2017 – EPA Regulations Budget Water Lead Shoelaces Conferences Webinars Dates Workgroups

EPA

Drive it like you stole it. I have no idea what that phrase is from. Since I overheard it from my young adult children it must be from a movie or a song. But I like the energy when it pushes me to get involved. Here is a nice summary of some EPA things to contact your elected officials. Water, Enforcement, Superfunds, Vehicles, and more. Go to: EPA.

Regulations

From the EPA web site – “EPA is seeking input on regulations that may be appropriate for repeal, replacement, or modification.” You can make your comments at Regulations. Personally, I subscribe to Proverbs for Paranoids #3 – If they get you asking the wrong question, they don’t have to worry about the answers. My comments are of the form – why reduce something that is helping.

Federal Budget

There will be much happening in the federal budget over the next few months. This is a good time to remind ourselves how the federal budget process unfolds. A brief primer is at Budget.

Water

For your continuing list of places to not go near the water, add New Bedford, Mass. Go toPCBs.

Lead

See the section with Webinars and Courses below. We will regularly provide a list for you to peruse. We owe deep gratitude to all those who have worked hard to reduce our exposure to lead over the decades. Now add the Jonas Center and Nurse.com for this training opportunity available to June 13. Go to Lead.

Shoelaces

OK, it has nothing to do with the environment. We were happy a number of years ago to read how the brazil nuts always rise to the top of the can. Now another mystery solved. Some things just make us happy. Go to Shoelaces.
